Globus: proposed management structure and procedures
Groups
- University of Alabama at Birmingham Subscription Managers
- What is the purpose of this group? I assume it's a Globus internal mechanism for Globus to manage which Globus identities are authorized to manage our subscription.
- University of Alabama at Birmingham (HA)
- This group allows us to manage which Globus identities are allowed to access subscription-specific features, such as GCP-to-GCP endpoint transfers.
- Endpoints and Mapped Collections are "connected" to this subscription group to show they are part of our subscription.
- Endpoints, Collections, and Groups can be "Verified" to signal to users they are officially related to our subscription.
- RC-Admins
- This group is intended to allow specific users to administer endpoints, storage gateways, and mapped collections.
Restructuring proposal:
- University of Alabama at Birmingham (HA)
- RC Administrators
- Team Leads, Matt, Clyde
- RC Activity Managers
- RC Activity Monitors
- Facilitation Team
- RC Administrators
Globus System State
The following are intended to be the state of each entity. The actual procedures require some level of discipline or scripting when creating new entities, or modification for existing entities, to achieve the desired state.
Endpoints
Adding the following roles to each Endpoint will enable the Facilitation Team to more quickly and accurately diagnose Globus transfer issues.
- Add Roles
- Administrator: RC Administrators group
- Activity Manager: RC Activity Managers group
- Activity Monitor: RC Activity Monitors group
Restrict Guest Collection Creation
